Abstract

Transportation is an essential need, particularly for the elderly, who often encounter mobility difficulties. The backrest aid on motorcycles is designed to improve both the comfort and safety of elderly riders. This study aims to understand the functionality, design, and performance of the motorcycle backrest aid. The research focuses on the effect of different inclination angles on Von Mises stress, displacement, and the safety factor. SolidWorks software was used for design and material analysis, considering AISI 1045 steel and 6061 alumunium. Tests were conducted at inclination angles of 90°, 110°, and 120°, with a load of 1000 N. The 120° angle yielded the best results, showing the lowest maximum yield strength and displacement values, along with the highest safety factor, confirming that this design is both safe and effective for elderly users.
