BUDAYA MAKAN JEPANG SEBAGAI SARANA PENINGKATAN KETERAMPILAN BAHASA DAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR

Learning Japanese through culinary culture offers an innovative approach that integrates language and culture holistically. This article aims to analyze how Japanese cuisine can serve as an effective medium for improving language acquisition, learning motivation, and cross-cultural understanding. This research employs a qualitative method using library research by analyzing literature on Japanese language learning and culinary culture. Data were gathered from books, journals, proceedings, and survey reports, then thematically analyzed. The findings reveal that a Japanese culinary-based approach provides numerous benefits. Activities such as cooking and restaurant simulations enable students to learn specific vocabulary, including food ingredients and cooking tools, as well as phrases relevant to real-life situations. Japanese cultural values, such as itadakimasu and mottainai, are also introduced through dining traditions, enhancing students' cultural understanding. Additionally, the relaxed atmosphere in culinary-based learning helps students overcome communication anxiety, boosting their confidence in using Japanese. In conclusion, this approach not only improves practical language skills but also broadens students' cross-cultural perspectives, making learning more relevant, interactive, and enjoyable. The integration of Japanese cuisine into language learning presents an effective model for the globalized era.
